There is at least two found from Finland and one in Estonia. Your find seems to have much more ornamental details. I made photo-montage from all of them for comparison. https://i.postimg.cc/sGFZ05d3/Ristisoljet.jpg That Pirkkala brooch is in Finna museum database. https://finna.fi/Record/museoviras...

Found this brooch in the Laatokka area this spring. Has anyone seen anything like this? (Horseshoe brooch but with crucifix on top) I haven't seen anything similar. I would appreciate any info on this (i.e., date, place of origin, etc.) https://i.imgur.com/l8HPlKk.jpg https://i.imgur.com/0HlEgnL.jpg...

Found this in a field near Sortavala. Other finds in that field were Scandinavian brooches and Swedish coins from 1600's. I'd like to date this pendant - is it older than 1400-1500s? I wasn't able to find any similar pieces online. Thank you!

Majority of european watches during that time period were Swiss made. And it looks a lot like the cover on mine. Swiss watches are also notorious for their lack of proper markings. There's only so much that can be said with certainty from just one piece, however. That's a beautiful watch, and the r...

I've found two pieces of oval brooches (separate finds ~2 km apart) in the last 30 days, and it got me thinking: why were these broken? Oval Karelian brooches are quite hard to crack (I have one intact brooch, and it is very sturdy). It must take a strong blow to crack one, and a lot of effort to fl...

Found these pieces next to each other. I'm guessing they are part of a chain-like jewelry either for horses or for people. Has anyone seen these before?

Found this piece of copper with a 3-dot ornament running on the sides. Iron Age jewelry and weapons were found near this find, so maybe this is a piece of a copper bracelet from the Iron Age? Have you seen anything similar? Thanks! https://i.imgur.com/pWB0Jas.png https://i.imgur.com/GheH4eh.png http...

Fantastic finds!! The Russian wire money seem to be from Peter the Great. And that is indeed the lower stem of a silver cross.

This looks like the lid of a pocket watch. Metal looks like silver, but I am not sure (how can I check?) The outer side shows some kind of ornament, perhaps a logo. Inner side has number 85234 engraved. https://i.imgur.com/6Ruqbdi.png https://i.imgur.com/yIKkolw.png Is there any way to identify what...

That thing is probably "female side" from some clothes clasp and not pendant. Many different examples: https://postimg.cc/wRDd6Zjd Used typically in jackets and vests etc. (1600-1880) http://kansallispuku.blogspot.com/2016/12/joulukalenteri-2016-luukku-16.html http://kansallispuku.blogspo...

Cool find! Funny because i have always though that alloy is somekind of "modern" material, but obviously not. I have found one orthodox pendant made of silver and it's probably from late 1700s or early 1800s and then i have found one piece of bronze cross from 1400s https://postimg.cc/Rq0...

That's very cool! I have yet to find one like this, with round ends. I did find one that opens (used to store orthodox relics inside like the Saints' ligaments) - that was a very exciting discovery!

It sure is interesting part of something. I have found pewter buttons from here (western Finland) and i guess those are from 1500s or 1600s. Maybe people has used pewter many centurys, but it simply just breakes down after a long period of time. Even those buttons i have found, are usually in very ...

I dunno what is it, but somehow it looks kinda old and for me the material looks more like a pewter. What was the id number your detector gave? I have seen the deus gives pretty high numbers to alloy, but pewter goes around low 40 to low 60 range. Alloy goes usually high 80 to mid 90 (where the cop...
